NEWS Bad Karma is currently preparing to release their new CD, "Absence of Faith" in June. For more info on Bad Karma, also check out our myspace page here: www.myspace.com/badkarmamusic |
| BIOGRAPHY Bad Karma began in the summer of 1995 when Vocalist/Guitarist Erik Wilcox and Drummer Kelly Heiser decided to form a band based on a variety of influences, including metal, punk, new wave, and progressive rock. Their vision was to create a unique sound with male and female lead vocals, heavy, yet catchy songs, and an energetic live show. After undergoing several changes, they found Vocalist/Keyboardist Kate Smith, Bassist Steven Scott. Through the years, Bad Karma released 4 full length CD’s, played a record label showcase in New York, and performed hundreds of shows across the western U.S., building a modest following and garnering quite a bit of press. In 2001, they shot a music video, which rose to # 1, and remained in the top slot for almost two years, on respected indie music site, undergroundfilm.com. After releasing the CD "Point A" in July of 2004 to positive press reviews, and playing shows to support the record, Bad Karma began writing new material for a loosely based concept album entitled "Absence of Faith". This CD promises to be their heaviest and best work to date, while maintaining the unique sound that sets them apart from everyone else. Featuring intricate melodies and driving beats, these songs take the band in a slightly new direction, with an angrier and heavier overall sound. The catchy choruses and punk/metal crossover sound that Bad Karma is known for is still there, but musically, the band decided to challenge themselves, and the result is positively epic. Recorded at The Sketchpad and Westonhouse Studios in Sacramento, Ca. in late 2006/early 2007, "Absence of Faith" is planned for a June 2007 release, with shows to follow. Look for it! |

Journal Hey everyone! It's been a busy time for us lately. We went into the studio on April 22, and we'll probably be recording and mixing through most of June. The recording is going great- the drums and bass are finished, and I'm planning on starting the guitar by this weekend (May 6). Everything sounds incredible, maybe there is something to all of this Pro Tools hype! :) ...Anyway, gotta go now, but stay tuned!! -Erik, Bad Karma |
| Well, it's
now May 24th, and the CD is coming along great. All of the instrumentation is finished, and so are much of the vocals. We're planning on completing the tracking this weekend, and we'll begin the mixdown process in June. We're all very excited with the results so far. Our engineer, Weston Ray, is very talented and has a great ear, so he's really helped get the most out of us. I think that people are going to be a bit surprised with this release. The sound is definitely Bad Karma, but everything is heavier, faster, and more precise. Music to wake up the neighbors!! -Erik, Bad Karma |
| Hey
everybody! Well, the last few weeks we've been laying down some tracks and it's finally coming to a close! It's been a lot of fun being in the studio and working with Weston, he's a really cool guy and has helped us out a lot. The CD sounds kick-ass! It's definitely darker and heavier than before, can't wait for you guys to hear it! Rock Like Fuck! -Kate, Bad Karma |
| Finished tracking last weekend
(May 28), and were all ready for mixdown!! It's sounding awesome. Should be finished mixing in a couple of weeks, and MP3 samples will be up soon thereafter, so stay tuned!! -Erik, Bad Karma |
